Gourmet Cooking is a Family Affair

"You have to put love into it. AnnMarie always knew that.”

That’s how restauranteur Sophia Nelms describes her daughter’s love of food. Chef AnnMarie grew up working in her family’s catering and restaurant businesses fine-tuning her skills at the Pennsylvania Culinary Institute. She’s worked behind the scenes at Sophia’s on Market and Sophia’s at Walden. The mother-daughter team talked about opening a third Sophia’s but decided this new restaurant would showcase AnnMarie’s passion for from-scratch dishes such as Hand-breaded Brie salad with Blackberry vinaigrette made with local berries (when she can get them). She loves using locally-sourced ingredients to make homestyle favorites like her mom’s favorite "Smash Burger", made with with pear and Brie, and featuring beef from local farms.

Chef AnnMarie is everyone’s favorite thea - that’s Greek for aunt. She wants you to feel at home… just like you’re visiting your own favorite aunt and sitting at her table when you come here.
